A masterpiece made for women from A. Lange & Söhne, the pinnacle of traditional German watchmaking; Little Lange 1.
I believe we are safe to say that A. Lange & Söhne is one of the very few brands that saved the German Watchmaking Industry from Swiss sovereignty. The brand blends the highest craftsmanship with top quality materials and timeless designs for the ones who want to feel “special”.
The Lange 1 Collection is one of the brand’s most iconic series. The ladies version of the model, which proves that a timepiece can be both uncommon and traditional with its off-centered dial and elegant details, is as spectacular as the men’s version.
Little Lange 1, dominated by feminine details, can also be described as a reduced and differently detailed version of the standard Lange 1, as the name implies. The model is offered in a 36.10mm x 10mm measuring case that is available in 18K pink or white gold. Thanks to the sapphire crystals used on both sides, the beauty of the mother of pearl dial and the magnificent movement is clearly visible.
One of the most remarkable parts of Lange 1 is undoubtedly the dial lay-out. Thanks to the mother of pearl dial playing under different angles of light, looking at the watch is more like a visual feast than simply reading the time. Hands made of the same material with the case is another proof for the brand’s utmost case in details. The hour and minute hands are located at the left side of the dial. The space on the right side is occupied with Big Date display and small seconds counter.
The Big Date indicator, which is a complication that displays the date with two different discs, is found in many models of the brand. Although I am not a big fan of Big Date displays, I have to admit that it looks far better on the Lange 1. Power reserve indicator on the other hand, is an extremely useful feature for hand-wound watches rather than being a visual detail only and A. The rear side of the watch is certainly breathtaking. In fact, it is possible to experience similar situations in many brands that are involved in hi-end luxury watchmaking, but in A. Lange & Söhne it is possible to find fascinating details even in the entry level models. Hand-made balance, blued screws, German silver main plate decorated in Glashütte style, gold chatons and many more… 53 jewels hand-wound movement measures 30.40mm x 5.90mm and beats at a frequency of 21600vph. The movement features 365 parts and offers a power reserve of 72 hours when fully wound.
The Little Lange 1 comes on a brown alligator strap and a 18K gold buckle, all of which are matched with case and dial.
