A. Lange & Söhne introduced the new version added to its characteristic model family, Lumen.
A. Lange & Söhne is highly regarded by many watch enthusiasts for many reasons, but the Saxon brand's most admired feature is its tradition that accompanies its quest for modern designs, technologies, and materials. Announced on the company's anniversary, the new Zeitwerk Honeygold Lumen also brings together three modern innovations under the same roof.
The new model comes with a case designed with a diameter of 41.9mm and a height of 12.6mm. Made of 18K Honeygold gold alloy, the case has sapphire crystals on both sides. The case, which draws attention with its renewed, thinner bezel and lug design, sports a new pusher that allows the hour display to change quickly, and a classic winding crown.
The dial, which is one of the most important features of the model, is produced from partially colored sapphire crystal. The redesigned dial unique to this model stands out compared to its predecessors in terms of both mounting and impact resistance, thanks to its two O-ring seals. The sapphire dial comes with a translucent coating that ensures that the luminous numerals that are not visible on the aperture absorb enough UV light in the dark. In other words, not only the numbers visible in the openings but also the hidden numbers can be seen under the sapphire dial, albeit slightly. The dial also in this model consists of a time bridge with two large openings, resulting in a combination of a single disc for hours and two discs for minutes. In this model, the redesigned bridge features a larger seconds counter. The power reserve indicator remains at 12 o'clock.
Caliber L043.9 movement gives life to the new model. The hand-wound movement, consisting of 61 jewels/462 parts, beats at a frequency of 18,000vph. The movement, which provides a power reserve time of up to 72 hours when fully wound thanks to its vertically stacked twin-barrel system, features cam-poised balance, in-house produced spring lever escapement, constant force, and one-minute remontoire for minute jumps. The movement, which includes the hour and minute functions with jumping feature, as well as a small seconds counter and a power reserve indicator, can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back.
The model, which is limited to 200 pieces and is available through ALS boutiques only, comes on a hand-stitched brown alligator leather strap and a buckle made of 18K Honeygold material. The list price for the model is EUR 114,000 (including taxes in Germany).
