Of course, when making this list, I do not think it is necessary to start from the heavyweights of the category such as Patek Philippe Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo, Vacheron Constantin 222, Chopard Alpine Eagle, Parmigiani Tonda, H. Moser & Cie Streamliner or Czapek Antarctique. These watches are either unavailable or have very high price tags. So, instead of losing our joy by dreaming of unattainable dreams, how about focusing on budget-friendly models that are worth every penny we spend?
One of the models that should be at the top of this list is undoubtedly Tissot PRX. The fact that the model, which has 35mm and 40mm case options, is produced at a level of workmanship that we are not accustomed to in its price segment, is enough to place it among living legends. It is impossible not to be happy with any PRX, regardless of the Powermatic 80 with 80 hours of power reserve or the quartz caliber versions. I have two criticisms about the watch. The first is that it does not have an intermediate size of 37mm or 38mm. The second is that there is no fine adjustment on the bracelet and it does not allow "fine" interventions with half links.
I add the Christopher Ward Twelve model to the second row of the list. I find it appropriate to make the following recipe for Twelve: Take PRX, and make the already good details even better. Create a unique dial design, add characteristic details to the case and bracelet, and increase the price slightly. Here comes Twelve. It is possible to purchase the model, which is offered in stainless steel and titanium options, with a diameter of 36mm or 40mm. My criticism points for the watches brought to life with the Sellita SW200 are still the same. Lack of 38mm intermediate length and double-sided folding clip system that does not allow precise adjustment.
I would like to include a surprise name in third place. Nivade Grenchen F77. Perfect size, excellent workmanship, original design, and affordable price. Moreover, it is a model that has done its job well in terms of size and sensitively adjusted clips, which I criticized in other watches. Designed so refined that it can fit any wrist with its 37mm diameter stainless steel case, F77 comes to life with two different automatic Soprod calibers: with and without a date display. Although it resembles the Royal Oak model at first glance with the screws on its bezel, it does not take long to understand that the F77 has a completely different character.
Let's continue with another surprise in the fourth row. Yema Urban Traveller. With its 39mm diameter case, it was created to comply with the trend of shrinking watches. I think it will not be easy to choose the Yema that suits you among the colorful dials because each option has its own appeal. This watch also has the problem of a bracelet lacking precise adjustment which I mentioned in other watches, but I ignore this due to its affordable price. We will see the performance of the in-house developed automatic caliber only in time.
Our fifth guest is Straum Jan Mayen. This watch, which I especially admired for its limited-edition red dial model, has a 39mm diameter stainless steel case and La Joux Perret produced G101 automatic caliber. It is possible to see meticulous workmanship and high production quality in every detail of the model, which stands out with its extraordinary dial options. Even though the price is one step above its competitors on the list, I am one of those who think that it is worth considering this difference for the difference of Straum models.
Now let's kick it up a notch and get back into more familiar waters. At the end of our list is Tudor Royal. The model, which is available in 4 different case options including 28mm, 34mm, 38mm, 41mm, and numerous dial options including salmon, greets its potential users with the deep-rooted history of Tudor behind it. There are many options among the Royal models that appeal to both women and men. My personal favorite is; the 38mm model with a salmon color and Roman numeral dial. My criticism, as usual, is the lack of a micro-adjustment clasp.
