Audemars Piguet updated the Perpetual Calendar model, one of the heavyweights of the Royal Oak model family, with a new shade of blue. The new dial, featured with the stainless steel and 18K pink gold versions, brings the blue tone used by the brand in the early Royal Oak models back to the present day.
Royal Oak, which has continued on its way without losing its cult status since its introduction in 1972, is among the milestone models that shape the world of watches as we know. The iconic model, designed by the legendary watch guru Gerald Genta, takes its place in the history of watchmaking as the model that determines the details of the sport-chic concept.
The two recently launched versions are based on the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar model in the current collection. The main difference between the new versions is the blue dial that nods to the same tone used in the original Royal Oak model.
Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, which has been in the AP catalogs since the 1980s, maintains its place among the flagship models of the brand with its renewed version introduced in 2015.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar gathers many signature details of the brand under the same roof. Offering a modern presence with its 41mm diameter, the Royal Oak style case manages to remain thin with its total height of only 9.5mm. The case sports sapphire crystals on both sides and is water-resistant up to 20 meters only. The new versions are available in stainless steel, and 18K rose gold case options.
The dial tone, the distinguishing feature of the new models, carries the Night Blue Cloud 50 color code, which was also used in the first Royal Oak model introduced by the brand in 1972. The background, which also symbolizes the starting point of the model family with its Grand Tapisserie pattern, sports white or pink gold accents according to the version.
The new versions, equipped with a magnificent bracelet, which is one of the components that have the biggest share in the success of the model family, beat by the Caliber 5134, designed and produced by the brand in-house. The automatic movement, which is wound via a central rotor, hosts date, day, month, leap year, week, and moon phase functions as well as timekeeping.
