Best 4 Panda Dial Alternatives

Best 4 Panda Dial Alternatives

Panda dials, one of the most attractive color combinations in the world of chronograph watches, are under the spotlight.

Rolex Daytona aka Unobtanium. Aside from the strangeness of the fact that a chronograph model with a steel case is one of the most demanded watches in the world, the reputation of the version with black-on-white-framed chronograph sub-dials, called the "panda", has captivated everyone interested in watches or not. Unfortunately, it is not possible to come across the 116500LN model with the panda dial, except in the showcases of second-hand shops or on Instagram pages. When this is the case, watch lovers looking for a steel chronograph with a black and white dial have to turn to alternatives. Here we are with the watches that caught our attention among these options for you.

First off, the first panda dial version of Rolex's Daytona isn't the 116500LN introduced in 2016. It's a term used for the Daytonas of the 60s, which became famous with the Paul Newman models called Panda. As you can see, it is a name inspired by the white heads of pandas and the black fur surrounding their eyes. Based on this idea, I will list models with black sub-dials on white dials. I should add that the reverse-panda ascription used for the opposite is at least as remarkable as the other.

Seiko Speedmaster Solar Chronograph SBDL085

The 39mm diameter stainless steel case model draws attention with its solar-charged battery-operated caliber. Despite the 13.3mm case, which is a little thick for a battery-powered watch, and the slightly weak bracelet-clasp duo, Seiko seems to have achieved great success, especially in this model. Be sure to give it a try.

Hamilton American Classic Intra-matic Chronograph H

40mm case, bi-compax chronograph layout, date display, water resistance up to 100 meters, 60-hour power reserve value, and much more. The Hamilton Intra-Matic is a price/performance beast.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono

A model that I have personally experienced for a while is the Tudor Black Bay Chrono. With its in-house automatic movement behind a 41mm diameter stainless steel case, it is a watch that feels like it offers more than its high-performance cousin, the Daytona. It is just useful with leather and fabric strap alternatives. Moreover, behind it is a name produced with the experience of Rolex.

Zenith Chronomaster Revival El Primero A384

If you are wondering why I put the A384 on the list instead of the Chronomaster Sport model, I highly recommend you to review the characteristic look of the A384 once again. This Zenith legend, teleported from 1969 to the present, has a 37mm diameter stainless steel case, 36000vph El Primero movement, and a unique bracelet.
