Blancpain introduced the modern adaptation of its legendary MIL-SPEC 1 model of the 1950s to be produced in a limited run of 500 units only.
The new model is offered in a stainless steel case measuring 40.30mm x 13.23mm.The case sports scratch proof sapphire crystals on both sides and the iconic sapphire bezel which became the signature of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms collection. The timepiece is water resistant to 300 meters.
The distinguishing feature of the new model from the classic Fifty Fathoms is the "water-tightness" indicator, which is also found in the original version produced in the 1950s. It is a pleasure to enjoy the watch at the night time thanks to the SuperLuminova phosphorus material used in the bezel and the dial. The date window is located between 4 and 5 o’clock.
Blancpain Fifth Fathoms MIL-SPEC is powered with the self-winding Caliber Ref.1151. The movement, which is formed by the combination of 210 parts, offers a power reserve of 4 days thanks to its double balance system. There is extra platinum coating on the 18K solid gold rotor of the movement which also features the popular silicon balance spring resistant to impacts and magnetic fields.
The new model is offered in three different strap alternatives as a stainless steel bracelet, a NATO strap and a sail cloth strap.
