Breitling, one of the constant names of aviation-themed models, addresses aviation and nostalgia enthusiasts with the Aviator 8 Chronograph Curtiss Warhawk model, inspired by the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, one of the legendary warplanes of World War II.
Breitling, drawing a new path for itself under the leadership of Georges KERN, one of the veteran names of the watchmaking industry, continues to attract attention with its models inspired by its glorious past. Breitling Aviator 8 Chronograph 43 Curtiss Warhawk, one of the models designed with the philosophy of "back to basics" adopted by the brand, is also among this attractive group.
The Aviator 8 Curtiss P-40 Warhawk Collection, which the brand added to its product line in 2019, consists of three different models in total. The collection, which houses two chronograph models and a three-handed model, draws attention with its mutual theme, the khaki green color. The model we hosted in our review corner, Ref. A133161A1L1X1, is one of the chronograph models.
The model comes in a 43mm diameter case made of stainless steel. On the front of the case, there is a thin metal bezel that can rotate in two directions and a curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The steel case back features a very stylish Curtiss P-40 Warhawk illustration. The case, which displays a strong and sporty stance on the wrist with its wide lug design, is accompanied by a large winding crown with the Breitling logo and chronograph pushers designed in piston style. The case is resistant to 100 meters of water pressure.
The stylish model comes with a khaki-colored dial that emphasizes the military theme. The dial, which has Arabic numeral indices and Super-LumiNOVA filled baton hands, reinforces its sporty side with red accents. Hosting day and date functions with black background discs, the dial provides sufficient legibility in almost any environment.
The model beats with the Breitling Caliber 13 movement. The automatic chronograph movement, based on Valjoux 7750, one of the milestone calibers of mechanical watchmaking, operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers up to 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
