Exactly 60 years ago, on May 24, astronaut Scott Carpenter was wearing a Navitimer Cosmonaute aboard the Aurora 7 spacecraft. This milestone in history also marked a premiere in the watchmaking world: the legendary timepiece was the first Swiss wristwatch to go into space.

At the time it was introduced, the Navitimer had become one of the favorite watches of professional pilots and was chosen by the AOPA (Association of Aircraft Owners and Pilots) to be its official watch, and therefore the wing logo of the association was also featured on the model. Honoring this anniversary, Breitling has introduced a new limited edition Re-Issue model, featuring a 24-hour dial designed to help astronauts distinguish between day and night while orbiting the planet.

The new model is limited to 362 pieces as a tribute to Aurora completing three orbits. The Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute Limited Edition is equipped with essential elements such as the circular sliding ruler to perform mathematical calculations directly on the wrist, the wing logo, and three chronograph sub-counters not to forget the military time display.

The new version, designed largely faithful to the original model, utilizes modern technology with its platinum bezel. The thematic inscriptions engraved on the components of the movement are revealed thanks to the sapphire crystal display case back.

The brand's in-house movement Caliber B02 beats at the heart of the 41mm diameter steel case. The stylish caliber, designed with a hand-wound architecture in line with the model's inspiration, offers a power reserve time of up to 70 hours when fully wound.
