Breitling introduced its new Super AVI collection, consisting of five different references.
Based on the original 1953 Co-Pilot Ref.765 AVI, Breitling features five chronograph models inspired by four iconic fighter jets in its new collection: P-51 Mustang, Vought F4U Corsair, Curtiss P-40 Warhawk De Havilland Mosquito.
Our readers, who closely follow the new models in the watch world, have noticed as much as the strict Breitling enthusiasts; the models in the collection have a lot in common with the AVI Ref.765 1953 Re-Edition. However, there is a small (!) detail that you did not notice from the press photos; the new models come with a 46mm diameter case.
AVI Ref.765 1953 Re-Edition, with its 41mm diameter case, was a stylish example of a vintage Tool Watch that kept the balance between retro and modern within acceptable tolerances. The newly released models, on the other hand, seem to have broken the retro part of this balance a bit. However, it is useful not to be prejudiced until we see the models live and try them on our wrist.
Another element that inspires the Super AVI collection is the four legendary aircraft that have written their names in aviation history with golden letters. The first of these is the P-51 Mustang, which was developed in just 4 months. The Vought F4U Corsair is a World War II aircraft specially prepared for difficult takeoffs and landings from aircraft carriers and remote landing strips. Third, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, which was introduced in 1938 and was a game-changer for the time of its production, with eye-catching maneuverability. Lastly, De Havilland Mosquito, produced between 1940 and 1950 and produced entirely from wood, unlike the others.
The new models come with a case designed with a diameter of 46mm and a height of 15.9mm. The case, which has stainless steel and 18K rose gold material options, is waterproof up to 100 meters.
All models in the collection are powered by the manufacture Caliber B04 movement. The COSC certified automatic movement, which has a column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph feature as well as a second time zone function, offers a power reserve time of up to 70 hours when fully wound.
All models are complemented by black or brown calf leather straps that are secured with folding buckles produced following the case material.
