Breitling unveils its new Super Chronomat collection.
Inspired by the famous brand's Frecce Tricolori watch designed for the aerobatic team of the Italian Air Force in 1983, the Super Chronomat attracts attention with its modern and versatile character as well as its retro design elements.
There are two different model families in the new collection; Super Chronomat B01 44 and Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar.
Both models come with a new case made by adapting the 42mm diameter case of the current Chronomat platform to 44mm. Available in Stainless Steel, Stainless Steel / 18K Rose Gold, and solid 18K Rose Gold, the case is accompanied by a ceramic insert bezel finished following the dial color. Rider tabs, which have become the symbol of the brand, are offered swappable for the first time in this model. The case, featuring double AR-coated sapphire crystals on both sides, sports a Breitling signed conical winding crown and screw-lock chronograph pushers with colored caps matching the color palettes. The Super Chronomat B01 44 model is waterproof up to 200 meters, while the Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar is waterproof up to 100 meters.
The Super Chronomat B01 44 model comes with blue, black, and brown (only 18K pink gold model) dial alternatives, while the Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar is available in blue and black dial color options. While the Super Chronomat B01 44 model is accompanied by contrast chronograph sub-dials, the Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar model has sub-dials matching the background color. Designed in the standard Tri-Compax layout, the Super Chronomat B01 44 offers a simpler image, while the Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar hosts a complex and equally symmetrical dial with its Quad-Compax design due to the additional calendar features.
The Super Chronomat B01 44 comes to life with the Breitling 01 movement. The automatic movement, which hosts ¼ second chronograph feature and date functions, offers up to 70 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar beats with the Breitling 19 movement. The automatic movement sports date, day, moon, and moon phase functions, in addition to the chronograph function with its four sub-dial architecture, and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Both movements, designed and produced entirely by Breitling, can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display case backs.
In addition to the Rouleaux bracelet, which is among the symbol details of the model family, both models are also available with a simulated woven patterned rubber strap, also inspired by the Rouleaux style. The metal bracelet offered with the Super Chronomat B01 44 includes the UTC module addition, a well-known feature by Breitling fans. The small watch placed in the bracelet section at the 6 o'clock position works with its own movement Breitling Caliber 62 (quartz) and serves as an independent, second watch.
List prices for the new model family range from CHF 8,300 to CHF 22,900.
