The new collection features stainless steel and 18K rose gold models. The automobile passion inspired details of the timepieces can easily be recognized.
The Gullioche form on the dial is inspired by a radiator grill of a classic car. The bolt form winding crown is another cool detail revealing the watch’s connection with the cars. The dial lay out resembles a dashboard. The fuel gauge style power reserve indicator is a very nice detail.
Drive De Cartier collection sport three different movements. All movements are full designed in-house by La Maison and they feature a variety of functions from time to tourbillon.
The base version of the series feature the the Caliber 1904 MC which is also known as one of the very first in-house designs of Cartier. As expected from a brand like Cartier, the movement sports classic decoration details like mirror polished screws and Cotes De Geneve pattern over the bridges and the oscillating rotor. The small second located at 6 o’clock position is an elegant detail.
The second timepiece of the collection is powered up by Calibre 1904-FU MC which is a highly tuned version of the base 1904 MC. 1904-FU MC is added to the brand’s in-house movements at 2014. The movement sports additional functions like a big date and retrograde style second time zone beside the small second version. All those functions can be operated via the winding crown.
The most complicated version of the Drive De Cartier Collection is a solid proof for the brand’s strength and know-how for manufacturing hi-end movements. Calibre 9452 is a hand wound movement with Tourbillon function. “ Poinçon De Geneve “ approved movement will surely attract all watch enthusiasts with it’s piece of art kind of beauty and cutting edge technology.
