Cartier introduced its very first Pre-SIHH 2018 novelty “Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night”. The new model attracts attention with its inspiration of Mystery Clocks by Cartier produced in early 1910s.
The new model, inspired by the Mystery Clocks in the brand’s rich archive, is the first model to be announced from Cartier’s Pre- SIHH 2018 collection. Cartier, which is expected to incorporate a new collection inspired by the original Mystery model, produced in 1912, into the 2018 innovations, also features the Day & Night function designed for the first time in the same year.
The new collection is offered in two versions as 18K white and pink gold though, only the 18K pink gold version’s photos were included in the press kit. The case measures 40mm in diameter excluding the brand’s symbol detail cabochon blue sapphire winding crown. Both sides of the case are equipped with AR coated scratch resistant sapphire crystals.
The new model’s dial features the signature design details of Cartier with mystery concept and required indication for the Day & Night function. The center of the dial is finished with circular Guilloché motif. The outer part is finished in dark brown tone with Sun Beam pattern. The retrograde style minute display is located at the bottom half of the dial and it’s read by a blued steel hand.
The upper half of the dial is where the mystery and Day & Night features are positioned. The mystery part is the floating look of displays without being connected to the center. Pair of indicators featuring sun and moon figures is located in this side of the dial demonstrating the cycle of day and night on a 12 hour scale.
The new model is powered by the brand’s in-house movement Caliber 9982 MC. 26 jewels hand-wound movement is composed of 174 parts and capable of providing 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Finished in accordance with Cartier standards, it is possible to enjoy the movement through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night, which is expected to reach Cartier boutiques next year, has a price of 63.000,00 USD (US list).
