Cartier’s legendary model family, Santos, celebrated its 40th anniversary last year. Cartier, which has not neglected to crown this important occasion with a brand-new collection, introduced the new Santos Collection at the SIHH 2018 watch trade show. The famous brand once again highlighted the popular Santos Collection with releasing a new model just before the upcoming SIHH 2019.

Being based on the Santos Large platform, the new model comes in a stainless-steel case measuring 39.8mm x 47.5mm x 9.08mm. Equipped with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front side and a solid stainless-steel case back at the rear side as well as two of Cartier’s practical inventions for easy bracelet/strap swap and adjustment – QuickSwitch and SmartLink, the case is water resistant to 100 meters / 10 bars.

Dial is basically the only detail where the new model differs from the last year’s version. Finished in a beautiful deep blue, the dial is designed with a graduated tone that is a lighter in the center and darkens towards the edges. It features unusual Roman numerals with a reflective, mirrored finish that stand in contrast to the metallic blue. Additionally, the hour and minute hands are filled with Super-Luminova, unlike the blued steel hands on the silver dial version. Being based on the Santos Large platform, the dial features a date display window at 6 o’clock with a dark background date disk that nicely blends with the dial color.

The new model is powered by the manufacture Caliber 1847 MC, which is the entry level automatic movement in the Cartier line-up. The movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a 48-hour power reserve when fully wound.

Cartier Santos Gradient Blue Dial (Ref. WSSA0013) comes with a stainless-steel bracelet and a leather strap as well as other models using the same platform. The calf leather strap is finished in matching blue tone.
