Baselworld continues to bleed. The giant Japanese watchmaker Casio was added to the brands that announced that they would not participate in the trade show by 2020. Last month, another Japanese producer, Seiko, announced its withdrawal, with both Seiko and Grand Seiko brands. Changing economic balances, traditional promotion and marketing strategies are becoming obsolete and many other reasons cause big watchmakers to break their routines and develop new strategies.

Swatch Group, which announced that it will not take part in the exhibition previously, will present the 2020 collections of its brands at the events that will be organized in March and the brands within the LVMH family will be introduced at the exhibition to be held in Dubai in January. Casio, along with Seiko, is planning to introduce their novelties in Munich in February. The withdrawal of Casio from Baselworld means that the Japanese companies that will participate in the trade show will be limited to Citizen.
