Chopard, one of the leading names in the world of jewelry and luxury watches, introduced a new model to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival brand partnership this year. Designed to commemorate this meaningful partnership, the new model draws attention with its striking dial inspired by the red carpet from the symbolic details of film festivals.
The new model is based on the Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 from the brand’s Haute Horlogerie product line L.U.C Collection. Introduced in 2016, Chopard L.U.C XPS 1860 was the re-issue version of the first manufacture L.U.C model issued in 1996. With its ultra-thin structure and elegant stance, the model is the perfect choice for a watch to be worn while walking through the red carpet.
The new model’s case measures 40mm in diameter which seems to be a reasonable size for a dress watch within today’s standards. Measuring 7.20mm in height allowing to be worn comfortably under the cuff while wearing a Tuxedo, the case is made of 18K white gold which appreciates the elegance of the overall design. The case is water resistant to 30 meters -as expected from a luxury dress watch- and is equipped with scratch proof sapphire crystals on both sides.
The most striking detail of the model is undoubtedly its red dial. An extremely lively and striking red tone was chosen for the dial, inspired by the "red carpet", which is one of the indispensable details of the Cannes Film Festival as well as in all events and organizations related to the silver screen. The dial sports different surface forms for every part like satin matt brush and sun-ray providing the dial its lively and eye-catching looks. Date display is located at 6 o’clock as well as the small second’s sub-counter. The Dauphine-style hands are rhodium plated to match with the 18K white gold case while the hour markers are decorated with baguette-cut diamonds.
At the heart of the new model is the brand’s own design and production Caliber L.U.C 96.01-L. The 29-jewels and micro-rotor automatic movement, which can be enjoyed with pleasure from the sapphire crystal display case back, beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28.800vph) and offers an impressive power reserve of 65 hours. The accuracy and precision of the movement is COSC certified while the superior decoration and excellent craftsmanship of the movement is awarded by the Poincon de Genève seal, where very few brands were entitled to receive it.
The new model is offered on a hand-sewn black alligator strap. The strap is secured with a pin type buckle which is also made of 18K white gold.
