Corum Admiral’s Cup model family, one of the first names that come to mind among maritime-themed models, is the guest of our Hands-On corner with the AC 45 Squelette, which attracts attention with its bold color scheme.
Among the boutique names of luxury watchmaking, Corum hosts many models that redefine the concept of being unique. So much so that it is not impossible to say ordinary or inspired for even one single model in its wide product range. Although Corum is a relatively young brand, it has the distinction of being a brand that almost every watch enthusiast recognizes with the effect of its unique design concept. Being the indispensable complement of bold styles with models that are obviously not appealing to everyone, Corum is also home to highly successful examples of traditional high-end watchmaking.
The model that we opted for today’s review belongs to the brand’s cult product line: Admiral’s Cup. We are quite confident about calling it cult as the model family, which became more like a signature for the brand, has been in the product line since 1960 without sacrificing its original design.
The model we are looking at is featured in the AC 45 Squelette series, designed with the most modern and innovative details in the brand’s Admiral’s Cup concept. The timepiece we have here from the collection that consists of 8 different models, each of which is limited to only 288, is the Ref. A082 / 03685 model.
The model’s case features facets as well as the characteristic 12-edge bezel that adheres to the classic Admiral’s Cup DNA. Measuring 45mm in diameter and 13.30mm in height, the case is made of ultra-lightweight Grade 5 titanium alloy with black PVD coating. The case is equipped with double anti-glare coated and scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is waterproof up 300 meters / 30 bars, which is unlikely to expect from a non-diver watch.
The Corum Admiral’s Cup 45 Squelette (Ref. A082 / 03685) carries a skeleton-style dial. The predominantly black dial following the overall color palette of the model has a bright red second arm and a skeleton date disc prepared in the same color. The Dauphine-style faceted hands and indexes fit the overall design with the Super-LumiNova applied in black.
The model is powered by the Caliber CO 082. The self-winding movement, which is enjoyable through the sapphire crystal display case back, beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The Corum Admiral’s Cup 45 Squelette (Ref. A082 / 03685) comes with a black vulcanized rubber strap and a Corum signed folding clasp made of stainless steel, also with black PVD coating.
