Glashütte Original introduced the new SeaQ models inspired by its history.
The town of Glashütte began to be known as the heart of German watchmaking since the mid-1800s. The brands in the town, which still hold their position in German watchmaking, were gathered under one roof during the Second World War and were called “Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (G.U.B)”. Today, Glashütte Original, which has been re-privatized with the Reunion of Germany, developed the new SeaQ models, a dive watch, inspired by the Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 introduced in 1969.
The Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 is the first dive watch the brand has equipped with the Caliber 75. Designed for professionals, the watch has three highlights: reliability, robustness and high performance. Besides being connected to their predecessor aesthetically, the new SeaQ, limited edition SeaQ 1959 and SeaQ Panorama Date models introduced at the recent “TimeToMove” event feature several upgrades to be in line with today’s standards.
The new Spezialist Collection includes a total of three models families. The first two models, SeaQ and SeaQ 1969, are inspired by the brand’s dive watch introduced back in 1969. Offered in a stainless steel case measuring 39.50mm in diameter and 12.15mm in height, the new models successfully meet today’s standards with updates such as scratch resistant sapphire crystals ceramic bezel inserts as well as 200 meters / 20 bars water resistance rating.
The models, which are designed to be faithful to the original model, have black dials with large Arabic numeral hour markers and thick hands. The SeaQ model retains its vintage-inspired character with dark-toned phosphorus-filled dial accents, while the SeaQ 1969, which has a limited production of 69 units, differentiates from the standard model with its bright green phosphor filled hands.
Equipped with the Glashütte Original automatic Caliber 39-11, the models are available with tropical rubber and textile strap alternatives as well as a metal bracelet equipped with a micro-adjustable folding clasp.
The other model from the newly introduced collection is the SeaQ Panorama Date. Offered with a stainless steel case measuring 43.20mm in diameter and 15.65mm in height, the new model is available with a pair of dial colors as blue and black dials. The signature big date indicator is located at 4 o’clock position. The new model is powered by the self-winding Caliber 36-13 and available with stainless steel bracelet and textile strap options.
