London-based watchmaker Graham introduced a new collection of its iconic Chronofighter series in four different versions with a limited run of 250 units each. The new collections aims the vintage military concept loving watch aficionados with its aged look cases and retro aircraft inspired dials.
The timepieces produced during war periods in line with military needs still continue to attract great interest by many watch enthusiasts today. Although the requirements that cause those watches to be created have already been lost, the original designs developed for fighting with the toughest conditions of the past can be a reason for preference for today’s watch aficionados.
The Graham Chronofighter Vintage Aircraft Ltd Collection carries traces of the past. Then model is offered in a 44mm diameter stainless steel case with “aged look” finish to suit with the vintage concept. Coated in metallic silver PVD in order to get that aged look, the case sports a domed sapphire crystal with AR coating on the front side to boost the retro appeal.
All four models in the collection come in the same case design which is water resistant to 100 meters. While the Ref. 2CVAV.B17A version with green accents comes with a solid stainless steel caseback featuring an engraving of the classic combat aircraft Halifax, the other three are offered with sapphire crystal display casebacks.
When it comes to Graham Chronofighter timepieces, the winding crown and chronograph pusher (or levers I might say) requires articles of their own. Of course there is a story behind that unique design and if you want to know it we strongly suggest you to read our editor Burak Bayram’s article “The story of the Bomb Timer Chronograph Pusher Mechanism”.
All models in the new collection bears the same dial lay-out but with a different color scheme for each model. The 30 minute counter sub-dial is located at 6 o’clock, the small second is placed at 3 o’clock and a day/date display window is present a 9 o’clock. The dials’ background is inspired by the body parts of vintage aircrafts. All indices and hands are coated with ecru color SuperLuminova which fits with the retro look nicely.
The models in the collection feature the brand’s Caliber Ref. G1747 movement. 25 jewels self-winding movement beats at 4Hz and offers 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The Graham Chronofighter Vintage Aircraft Ltd collection is offered with textile straps designed to withstand tough conditions. The straps are finished in different colors in line with the dial tones and secured by Graham signed pin buckles made of titanium.
Both models will be offered with a limited run of 250 units per model. They are likely to be highly admired by the vintage military concept loving watch aficionados with their thematic designs and details.
