Grand Seiko, introduced an eye-catching two-tone version of its highly acclaimed Spring Drive Chronograph as a part of the 140th-Anniversary collection.

Grand Seiko celebrated its 60th anniversary last year. The entire Seiko Corporation, founded by Kintaro Hattori in 1881, celebrates its 140th anniversary this year. Wanting to crown this important date, the brand introduced many new models within the scope of its 140th anniversary. One of the most striking models among these novelties was the Grand Seiko Sports Spring Drive Chronograph GMT SBGC240.

The new model is based on the Ref. SBGC203, which has been in the collection for some time. Grand Seiko Sports Spring Drive Chronograph GMT SBGC240 comes in a case designed with a diameter of 43.8mm and a height of 16.1mm. The stainless-steel case, which features matte and shiny surfaces, is accompanied by an 18K gold crown, chronograph pushers and bezel. Ceramic material is preferred for the insert of the bezel designed with angular edges. Sapphire crystals are used on the front and back sides of the case, which is designed to withstand 100 meters of water pressure.

The model is accompanied by a complex but easily legible dial with yellow gold-tone components on a black background. In addition to the sub-dials, the Tri-Compax chronograph dial features a power reserve indicator at 7 o'clock and a date window at 3 o'clock. The GMT function is followed from the 24-hour scale placed inside the dial.

The new model is powered by the Spring Drive Caliber 9R86. The 50-jewels hybrid movement offers up to 72 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement, which operates with an accuracy of ± 1 / day, can be viewed through the glass partitioned case back.

Limited to only 500 pieces, the model is accompanied by a stainless steel bracelet with an 18K yellow gold GS emblem on the clasp. The list price for the model, which is planned to reach the sales points by June 2021, is EUR 19,200.
