The introduction of these USA-exclusive limited editions comes on the tails of Grand Seiko’s announcement that their first independent, non-Japanese corporate entity will be here in the US, where Grand Seiko aims to become a major presence in the luxury watch market with the name Grand Seiko Corporation of America (GSA).

Exclusively designed for the US market, the new collection includes three different models. All versions are offered in 40mm diameter cases available in three different materials. These limited editions include 20 platinum watches on crocodile strap for $53,000 (SBGA385G), 50 in 18k rose gold on crocodile strap for $29,500 (SBGA384G), and 558 in stainless steel on metal bracelet with two additional straps for $6,800 (SBGA387G).

The new models are powered by the brand’s ultra-precise movement Grand Seiko Spring Drive 9R15 / 65. Their dials imitate the Japanese painting technique Kira-zuri, which translates to “sparkling painting.” Dials are made to complement each metal, helping the watches achieve Grand Seiko’s elegant look. The dial layout is typical Grand Seiko, with precision-cut applique markers, a classic date window at three o’clock, and a power reserve indicator located between seven and eight o’clock.
