H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Vantablack (Ref. 1804-0212)

H. Moser & Cie., who came to the agenda with its unique models as well as its ironic statements about the state of luxury watchmaking in recent years, pushes the limits of minimalism with its jet-black model Endeavor Tourbillon Concept Vantablack.

We saw the brand's new perspective on minimalism in the Endeavor Tourbillon Concept model, which is introduced in 2017, and we were very impressed like everyone else. Endeavor Tourbillon Concept Vantablack, produced with the same design language, takes this admiration one step further.

I am not sure if the photos do justice or not but, Vantablack is truly a “jet black” watch... So, what does this Vanta mean? Let me explain...

Developed in 2012 by UK-based Surrey NanoSystems Limited, Vantablack is a material that can absorb 99.975% of light thanks to billions of vertically placed nanotubes. The artistic potential of the material, which has different uses such as military camouflage, solar panels, and telescopes, is also quite high. H. Moser & Cie. is not a stranger to this material as the brand used this material in the Endeavor Perpetual Moon Concept Vantablack model.

Let's talk about the timepiece we have here for review... H. Moser & Cie. Endeavor Tourbillon Concept Vantablack comes in an 18K white gold case designed with a diameter of 42mm and a height of 11.6mm. There are sapphire crystals on both sides of the case, where matte and glossy surfaces are used together.

It is possible to show the dial as the epicenter where both aesthetic and mechanical features of the model are exhibited. The dial, which offers a pitch-black tone thanks to the Vantablack material, is accompanied by leaf-shaped hands made of polished 18K white gold. At 6 o'clock position of the dial is the Tourbillon, which is considered the heart of the model. The Flying Tourbillon-style escapement is fixed with PVD coated aluminum bridges.

The Caliber HMC 804, which gives life to the charismatic model, was designed and produced entirely within the brand. The 28-jewels automatic movement beats at a frequency of 21,600vph (3Hz) and offers 72 hours of power reserve thanks to its double mainspring system.

Limited to only 50 pieces, the model is accompanied by a hand-stitched black alligator strap and an 18K white gold folding clasp. I don't know how many watches are still available for sale (with a price tag of 75,000 CHF), but I'm sure the vast majority of them have already reached avid collectors...
