With the definition of "time display" in 1970, the Pulsar quartz watch is one of the hidden heroes of horology. Why? You may ask. Well, Pulsar is the world's first digital wristwatch featuring a quartz crystal and an integrated circuit regulating the timekeeping organ. Although the quartz revolution is credited with the Seiko Astron, the first analog quartz watch, Hamilton's Pulsar model pioneered in its field and ushered in a new era.

Hamilton's Pulsar model also pioneered the adaptation of LED (light-emitting diode) technology to watches. The Pulsar model, which had a  bold design for its era, also attracted the attention of Stanley Kubrick with its futuristic lines, and it also enabled the use of watches specially designed by Hamilton in 2001: A Space Odyssey, which is considered a masterpiece. Unfortunately, in 1977 Hamilton discontinued production of the Pulsar and sold the Pulsar name. As you know, the Pulsar brand continues to produce watches under the Seiko.

Let's quickly return to our topic and continue to look at the life of this American (later Swiss) legend. Hamilton succeeded in making retro fans extremely happy by re-issuing the Pulsar in 2020. The model, which received high marks from watch enthusiasts with its characteristic design, naturally offered more technological features than the original version, hosts many innovations such as an always-on OLED (organic LED) display and a double-folding clasp bracelet.

Today, the Hamilton PSR model is back with a limited-edition version for the fourth film of Hollywood's legendary franchise Matrix, Resurrections. The new model, codenamed MTX (Matrix), comes with a completely black PVD-coated steel case and bracelet. The red-toned OLED display in the previous model has been replaced by a green tone one, which nods to the green that widely appeared in the Matrix series. This new model, limited to a span of 1999 units (the date when the first Matrix movie was released), is available for 12,090₺ (VAT included) as of now.

The watch comes in a nicely proportioned case measuring 40.8mm x 34.7mm. The dark case rests comfortably even on thinner wrists by its relatively short height. The case has a sapphire crystal on the front side and a model-exclusive case back. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters. The lug width of the Hamilton PSR MTX is 24mm, so you can wear this unique watch with any suitably sized strap. However, let us add that the black PVD-coated steel bracelet raises the bar quite high regarding both comfort and appearance.
