HYT, the manufacturer of time-keeping machines with fluid mechanics, is inspired by the Day of the Dead of Mexico regarding its new SOONOW model.
As soon as you read the title, I guess you asked “What is Day of the Dead?” and “Why is Day of the Dead celebrated? ” as these two questions came to my mind immediately. At the end of small research through the internet, I learned that a culture thousands of miles away from us celebrates the Day of the Dead, which is even included in the UNESCO’s List of Representatives of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
This Mexican culture is defined as a holiday where people come together to remember family members and friends, pray for them, and help their spiritual journeys. Death is considered as a part of the human cycle. For this reason, not as a day of mourning, but celebrating.
Inspired by the Day of the Dead, HYT introduced the new SOONOW model in five different versions. The models exhibited at the SIW with the EMWA and Berger Festival also referred to the Day of the Dead with their colorful painted skulls and Mexican flag colors; red, green and white.
The HYT SOONOW (Ref. H02239) comes in a matt stainless steel case with a diameter of 48.8mm and a height of 20.08mm. Equipped with a highly domed sapphire crystal on the front and a see-through case back with “One of Five” inscription at the rear, the case is water-resistant to 50 meters.
Inside the mighty case is a hand-winding movement that provides 65 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The watch’s blue-purple anodized titanium dial features 937 holes and 313 18K gold pins. The hour markers and numerals are located on the edges of the dial. The second disc with “Soon” and “Now patterns are located in the left eye and the power reserve indicator in the right eye.
There are only five of HYT SOONOW, offered with a black rubber strap and a titanium buckle.
