Harry Winston’s bold model Project Z12, inspired by the legendary bridges of Manhattan, fascinates with its extraordinary details.
Cities exist with their symbols, and human hands often build those symbols. If you were in Istanbul as a tourist, where would you like to see first? Galata Tower, Hagia Sophia, Rumeli Fortress, Bosporus Bridge and many others...
One of the biggest symbols of New York-Manhattan is its bridges. The 87km2 Manhattan area hosts about 21 bridges. These bridges include world-famous ones such as the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges, as well as bridges that we have not heard of for being out of order. Harry Winston, inspired by the beauty of the city he was born in, reflects the spirit of Manhattan with the Project Z12 model.
Harry Winston Project Z12 (Ref. OCEAHR42ZZ001) comes with a 42.2mm Zalium case. Zalium is a registered, zirconium-based alloy that the brand started to use in its collections by 2001. Many chemical properties, including its lightness and extreme durability, make Zalium a unique material for use in both high-performance products and engineering. The front side of the watch has a sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating on both sides, so it is even more enjoyable to watch the dial. This bold case is water-resistant to 100 meters.
The most interesting thing about Harry Winston Project Z12 is the time display and dial design. The model has concentric indicator layers with excellent symmetry. You can see that the bridges of Manhattan inspire this symmetry and design, at first glance. The hands move under the bridge in the middle, through an area of 140 degrees. When the hands reach the end of their journey, the retrograde feature jumps back. This retrograde choreography repeats itself 26 times a day. Like a show that is quite enjoyable to watch, only for you...
The hands create an illusion by moving in a 360-degree circular orbit. In addition to the hour, minute and date rings, other intermediate layers reinforce this impression. The large, arched bridge that runs along the central axis of the dial evokes the brand's New York City heritage. In the middle of the bridge is the emerald shape, the symbol of Harry Winston. Three arches surrounding the winding crown highlight the bridge, made of Zalium, like the case.
Harry Winston Project Z12 works with the automatic movement HW3306 that offers a 72-hour power reserve. The model is limited to 300 units only and is equipped with a rubber lining, denim-look calfskin strap as well as a Zalium buckle.
