Earlier this week, I was fortunate enough to get the Arnold & Son HM Perpetual Moon for a test drive. This stunning time piece belongs to the Arnold & Son’s Royal Collection which reflects the brand’s traditional watch making and and art of decorating.
Let’s have a close look at this masterpiece;
The case measures at 42mm in diameter which is quite wearable thanks to it’s ergonomic design details. The curved lugs improves the watches comfort on the wrist. There are two case options as; Stainless Steel and 18K Red Gold.
The classical onion shaped crown, which reminds me of vintage pocket watches, surely fits the overall design perfectly.
There is also a smart button on two o’clock position for quick setting the moon phase feature.
Both sides have sapphire crystals making this beautifully crafted time piece reveal it’s beauty generously.
The dial is absolutely stunning. The most striking feature of this wonderful dial is undoubtedly it’s moon phase disc which is one of the largest disks in a wrist watch with a diameter of 29mm. The hand crafted red gold moon figure measures 11.2mm in diameter. The dial has three options as; cream, blue and black. I might say that I have the best version here which I believe is the cream dial as it has the moon figure finished in famous Gullioche pattern.
The movement itself is another story. Being one of the most precise complicated moon phase movements, the Caliber A&S1512 offers 122 years of accuracy. Hand wound movement delivers 90h of power reserve thanks to it’s double barrels. 34mm diameter movement has 27 jewels.
As expected from such a high-end timepiece, Caliber A&S1512 sports top of the line decoration details. The hand decorated movement features manually chamfered bridges with polished edges, fine circular graining and Cotes de Geneve, along flame blued screws.
Both versions of this marvelous time piece are offered in hand stitched alligator straps in black or brown and case material matching clasps.
The HM Perpetual Moon is a magnificent time piece. It’s well made and it offers a visual feast beyond words with it’s breath taking moon phase disk and superbly decorated movement. As a truly collector’s item, HM Perpetual Moon is an amazing watch and one should not think twice for having it incase the budget is set and the watch is located.
