Hublot BIG BANG SANG BLEU (Ref. 415.NX.7179.VR.MXM18) model family, which has been in our pages before with its 18K King Gold version, is under the spotlight once again with its titanium version limited to 200 pieces only.
Sang Bleu’s model family, included in the brand’s product line in 2017, is named after the collaboration with the Sang Bleu brand, founded by the famous Swiss tattoo artist Maxime Buchi, which offers a wide range of services from a tattoo studio to creative agent and sports wear. Today, we have the Ref.415.NX.7179.VR.MXM18 titanium version that is limited to a span of 200 units only.
Although the Sang Bleu model family is part of Hublot’s locomotive product group Big Bang Collection, it actually has a very original design. The model is offered in a 45mm case that is manufactured from lightweight titanium. The case, which is equipped with double AR coated scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides, is water resistant to 100 meters / 10 bars as in other versions in the collection. Let me add the the Hexagonal bezel and the motifs on the case are designed by Maxime Buchi as well.
The dial design of the model also deserves to be called unique. There are three discs prepared in hexagonal form in place of the hands and sub-dials you expect to see. The discs are sized differently in order to be used for time display. The big disc shows the hours, the middle one show the minutes and the small one shows the seconds. There are two black chapters inside the dial. The bigger one features the hour markers, and the small one houses the minute markers. Although it seems quite complicated at first, it is not so hard to read the time after you are accustomed with the timepiece.
Big Bang Sang Bleu is powered by the Unico Caliber Ref. HUB1213. Self-winding movement is actually based on the famous Unico Caliber with some technical revisions like removing the chronograph module and re-designing the gear train in order to achieve the required torque to move the discs. The movement offers 72h power reserve when fully wound –like the original Unico. It is also equipped with a custom oscillating rotor which can be enjoyed through the sapphire display case back.
The model is offered on a dark blue leather strap decorated by Maxime Buchi. The black vulcanized rubber lined strap features a Hublot signed folding clasp made of titanium.
