Classic Fusion, designed in collaboration with Richard Orlinski, one of the famous figures of modern art, is presented to watch lovers as a horological representation of the Pop-Art movement.
The "Wild Kong" gorilla statue in Cannes, the alligators from the Miami Design District, or the five-meter bear in Courchevel… You must have come across at least one of these works by Richard Orlinski, one of the successful representatives of the Pop-Art movement. When we look at his works, the planes formed by bringing together sharp-edged faces at different angles draw our attention. Thanks to the long-standing collaboration with Hublot, we come across these unique lines of Orlinski in the watches that we have here in our review corner.
Titanium and 18K gold case models in the Classic Fusion Orlinski series appeal to those who want to enjoy being understated and original. Although Hublot has developed a bold motto such as “elegance is being rediscovered” to market these models, my personal opinion is that the watches have the versatility that includes sportiness rather than elegance.
Watches with 40mm diameter cases with polished surfaces combine both Hublot's brand values and Orlisnki's fine touches in a single body. After the dodecagonal bezel and the multi-faceted lug, we see the Orlinski touch on the dial as well. On the other hand, the "H" head screws in the bezel, an integrated rubber strap, and a multi-layer case structure also appear as Hublot-screaming details. Models with sapphire crystals and a water resistance value of 50 meters have a solid structure that will suffer minimal damage from the corrosive effects of daily use.
At the heart of the watches is the Hublot Caliber HUB1100. Sellita SW300-1 forms the basis of this simple caliber, which does not even have a date complication. 25-jewels automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28800vph) and offers up to 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Both watches are offered with a black rubber strap and a folding clasp. It is a big question mark why stainless steel is used as the buckle material in the titanium case watch. Likewise, the use of a clasp made of gold and black plated stainless steel in the King Gold case model is among the not so pleasant details.
