The German watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne released "terra-brown" dials for its entry-level self-winding wristwatch Saxonia Automatic.
The new dial color is called Terra Brown which presents a delicate blend of brown and red.
Initially launched at A. Lange & Söhne‘s new boutique in Tokyo, Japan, the Saxonia Automatic “terra-brown” provides an elegant touch of versatility to the German watchmaker’s most affordable automatic watch (which is the latest in a series of entry-level timepieces including the Saxonia Thin 37mm and Saxonia Boutique Edition).
The structure of the dial features the Lange classic solid silver disc with a fine grained surface. The surface is treated with terra brown coating. The hour markers and the hands set are made of solid gold.
The 38,5mm case is available in 18K white or rose gold. Due to the thinner bezel and smooth lines accompanied with short lugs, the case wears a tad bigger than its size providing an elegant wrist presence. The finishing of the case is perfect as with all Lange timepieces.
The crown bears the brand’s name engraving.
A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Automatic in “Terra-Brown” is equipped with the Caliber L086.1, a self-winding movement with a three day power reserve. Being the brand’s entry level automatic movement, the L086.1 is slightly less complicated than Lange’s top of the line automatics (found in the Langematik perpetual calendar for instance). In terms of technical and visual details, the movement does not feature the gold chatons for the jewels and the rotor is gilded rather than solid gold. However it still has some Lange spec detailing like a platinum rotor rim, hand-engraved balance cock and flame blued steel screws.
The brands seem to be pretty keen on using brown toned dials for their new models as we started to see a number of them nowadays. And undoubtedly, A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Automatic in “Terra-Brown” is a very well finished example.
