It was 1969 when IWC showed up with a revolutionary timepiece. The brand attracted a great deal of attention when they came up with that new model featuring a Quartz movement which was ten times more accurate than mechanical one. They named the model “Da Vinci”. The Da Vinci Collection, which has been offered in round and Tonneau style cases that are equipped with outstanding complications, is the guest of our pages with the fairly simple yet elegant IWC Da Vinci Automatic Edition “150 Years” series.
The new series include three versions all offered in a round case measuring 40.4mm x 12.1mm. Available in stainless steel or 18K pink gold, the case features movable lugs which are clearly engineered with special attention. Thanks to that joint type lug design, the new Da Vinci Collection timepieces offer utmost comfort like no other watch did before.
The case is equipped with arched edged double AR coated scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The models with dials available in white or navy blue provide a basic look while the rears side offers quite the opposite with beautifully finished movements.
The series is powered by the IWC’s fully in-house movement Caliber Ref. 82200. 33 jewels self-winding movement beats at 28800vph (4Hz) and offers a power reserve of 60 hours when fully wound thanks to the highly-efficient Pellaton winding system. The movements are equipped with exclusive oscillating rotors featuring the 150th Anniversary marking.
The models are offered on beautifully crafted alligator straps made by the famous Italian leather goods manufacturer Santoni that are well above standards.
The stainless steel versions are limited to a span of 500 units each while the 18K pink gold version with the white dial option only is available with a limited production of 250 pieces through IWC boutiques and sales points.
