The classic pilot's watch, which is among the cults of the watch world, does not have an exact owner in terms of design. Pilot's watches, which are easily distinguished from other watch types with their basic elements determined in line with needs directly, find themselves in the product group of many brands from different segments today, as in the past.

One of the first names that come to mind when it comes to pilot watches is undoubtedly IWC. Offering a very rich collection in its current product line, the brand is considered one of the most important representatives of this classic design in modern times. In addition, IWC’s Pilots Watch concept is not limited to visual elements such as color or theme but also a wide collection ranging from high complications to alternative materials.

The latest new model from the well-established brand comes from the entry-level model family Pilots Watch Mark XX collection in IWC's pilot watch product group. By the way, don't be fooled by the entry-level definition, as the Pilots Watch Mark XX redefines the borders of this concept with the technical features it offers.

Before moving on to the model, let's give a little reminder about the history of the collection; IWC Mark XX is the current version of a series that started in 1948 with the Mark 11 for the RAF, and actually made it to standard production in 1993 with the Mark XII, followed by the Mark XV (1999), then Mark XVI (2006), Mark XVII (2012), and Mark XVIII (2016).

The new model comes in a stainless steel case designed with a diameter of 40mm and a height of 10.8mm. The case, which has reached the optimal design as a result of the evolution of the model family, offers both a stylish and a sporty look with polished accents over a matt finish. On the front of the modern-classic case, a sapphire crystal, which is resistant to sudden pressure changes, serves. Equipped with a solid case back and a screw-in crown, the case is also resistant to 100 meters of water pressure.

The classic pilot's watch dial design, which we usually remember with light-colored components on a dark background, takes the negative of the entire color palette in the new model. Black detailed hands on a silver-plated white dial and large numeral indices prepared in the same color do not compromise on fast and clear legibility. SLN phosphor-filled components allow the dial to be legible even in low-light environments. The white-ground disc, visible from the date window at 3 o'clock, preserves the visual integrity of the dial.

At the heart of the new model is the brand's in-house movement, the Caliber 32111. The 21-jewels self-winding movement oscillates at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers a power reserve of 120 hours/5 days, which is an extremely efficient value when fully wound.
