IWC Schaffhausen unveiled its new Pilot Watches Collection at the SIHH 2019 in Geneva. The TOP GUN family offered in four new versions, including the double chronograph model with the patented Ceratanium® case. Seven new models were added to the Spitfire collection, including 4 bronze case versions.
IWC’s TOP GUN watches, produced since 2007, are named after the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program in the US Navy. This program is designed to give flight and tactical training to the best pilots of the navy. IWC therefore equips its time machines to accompany pilots in this challenging process with superior technical and visual features.
Among the models introduced, is the Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph TOP GUN Ceratanium (Ref. IW371815) with the new Ceratanium® case. Ceratanium® combines the superior material properties of titanium and ceramics. The case, which is highly resistant to scratches and water proof up to 60 meters, measures 44mm x 16.8mm and features sapphire crystals on both sides. The model is equipped with the self-winding Caliber 79420 which is based on the Valjoux ETA 7750 with integrated double chronograph module. 29 jewels movement beats at 28800vph and offers 46 hours power reserve.
Two of the models introduced under the SIHH 2019 novelties are the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition "Mojave Desert" (Ref. IW389103) and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN (Ref. IW389101). The models are offered in ceramic cases measuring 44.5mm x 15.7mm. Both models are powered by the IWCs manufacture movement Caliber 69380. 33 jewels self-winding movement beats at 28.800vph and offers a power reserve of 46 hours. The sand-colored ceramic case used in or Mojave Desert model and the other details selected in harmony with the case are also firsts for the brand. Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN (Ref. IW389101) is added as the standard version while the Mojave Desert model is limited to 500 units only.
The latest member of the TOP GUN family that was introduced as part of SIHH 2019 novelties is the Pilot’s Watch Automatic TOP GUN (Ref. IW326901) model. Offered in a black ceramic case measuring 41mm x 11.4mm, the model sports sapphire crystals on both sides and is waterproof up to 60 meters. The new model hosts the in-house automatic Caliber 32110. 21-jewels movement operates at 28800vph and offers a 72-hour power reserve.
The collection, named after the legendary British aircraft Spitfire, designed by Reginald J. Mitchell, combines vintage details with modern engineering solutions.
Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Spitfire (Ref. IW503601) model has a bronze case of 46.2mm x 15.3mm with a sapphire crystal on the front, a titanium case back and a waterproofing value of 60 meters. The model will be produced with a limited number of 250 units and equipped with in-house automatic Caliber 52615. The 54-jewel movement beats at 28800vph, has a 7-day power reserve and a perpetual calendar that does not require adjustment until the year of 2100, including the moon phase, date, day, month and year. The bronze case is combined with an olive green dial and a brown calf leather strap.
One of the novelties introduced in SIHH 2019 is the Pilot Watch Timezoner Spitfire Edition ‘’The Longest Flight’’ (Ref. IW395501). The model has been developed specifically for the pilot Steve Boultbee Brooks and Matt Jones who will travel around the world with a Spitfire aircraft as part of the ‘’Silver Spitfire - The Longest Flight’’ organization. The model comes with a stainless steel case measuring 46mm x 15.2mm, which is equipped with a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 60 meters. The movement is the manufacture self-winding Caliber 82760 featuring the patented Timezoner mechanism with 60 hours power reserve. The model will be limited to 250 units only and offered on a green textile strap.
Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Spitfire (Ref. IW387901 & IW387902) models are offered in stainless steel or bronze cases measuring 41mm x 15.3mm. Equipped with sapphire crystals, both models are water resistant to 60 meters. They are powered by the self-winding manufacture movement Caliber 69380 which is a brand new movement. 33 jewels movement beats at 28.800vph and offers a power reserve of 46 hours as well as day and date functions.
Another model that attracted great attention under the brand’s SIHH 2019 novelties is the Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire Edition “MJ271” (Ref. IW327101) which brings the UTC function together with a manufacture movement. The new model, which will be limited to 271 units only, is powered by the Caliber 82710 with 31 jewels and a power reserve of 60 hours. The model comes in a bronze case with sapphire crystal on the front and titanium case back at the rear measuring 41mm x 14.2mm.
The last two Spitfire models are the Pilot’s Watch Automatic Spitfire (Ref. IW326801 & IW326802). Offered in stainless steel or bronze cases with 39mm diameter are powered by the new manufacture self-winding movement Caliber 32110 with a power reserve of 3 days.
