Jacob & Co chose the slogan "Watch Of All Extremes" for its new Twin Turbo Furious model. However, when you take the watch in your hand, it takes only a few seconds for you to understand how modest the brand has been with this phrase. Please welcome the super exotic Twin Turbo Furious.
For Jacob & Co’s product line, it’s possible to say extraordinary, outstanding, uncommon, exotic and so on, but with the Twin Turbo Furious model, all these words are more meaningful than ever.
Twin Turbo Furious is offered in an 18K pink gold and carbon combined case that is as comfortable as its dimensions allow –which are 57mm x 52mm x 17mm. The twin turbo furious with 18K pink gold and carbon fiber combination promises maximum comfort thanks to its curved back cover. Consisting of a total of 88 separate parts, the complex structure of the case is heavily overshadowed by the complexity of the movement. The case is equipped with sapphire crystals in both sides and is water resistant to 30 meters.
The winding crown on the right side of the model sports a very different locking mechanism from the traditional designs. At the same time, the locking lever makes it easy to grasp the crown and allows the user to wind the watch much more practically. The 18K gold winding crown acts as the pusher of the Mono-pusher Chronograph function. Start, stop and reset operations of the chronograph function are performed in sequence by pushing the winding crown.
The complex dial lay-out features a small second indication at 9 o’clock in addition to the hour and minute hands. The seconds counter is positioned around the dial while the hour and minute counters are located at 6 o’clock. Below the dial are two three-axis Tourbillon cages and a power reserve indicator between those cages.
The model is powered by the in-house Caliber Ref. JCFM05 measuring 34mm x 46mm x 13.7mm and consisting of -now hold on to your hat- 832 individual parts. The two high-speed three-axis Tourbillons complete the 1st axis in 24 seconds, the 2nd axis in 8 seconds and the 3rd axis in 30 seconds. The regulator located in the center of both Tourbillon cages is one of the most important parts that provides highest level accuracy. The movement that allows Tourbillon balance wheels to rotate at equal speeds also features a Mono-pusher Chronograph and a Decimal Minute Repeater functions. Unlike the classic Minute Repeaters that strike double gongs in every 15 minutes, this Decimal Minute Repeater, which is activated by the crown located at the left side of the case, strikes in every 10 minutes. This also relates to my only complaint about the model as the tones produced for hours and minutes is barely different than each other. And yes, I have to confess that I tried hard to find a flaw. 75 jewels movement beats at 21600vph and offers 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Jacob & Co Twin Turbo Furious is offered on a black leather strap with a diamond pattern. The strap is secured by a folding clasp made of 18K pink gold, such as the case. The model is limited to 18 units only with a MSRP of CHF 525.000 which I leave the commentary part to our readers.
