Jaeger-LeCoultre tributes to the traditional luxury watchmaking with the Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Enamel, which is among the highly acclaimed novelties of SIHH 2019.
Being one of the milestones of traditional Swiss watchmaking, JLC continues to fascinate the watch enthusiasts with its novelties that suit the name 'Watchmaker of watchmakers' attributed to it. Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Enamel, which is among the novelties offered by the brand within the scope of the SIHH 2019 trade show, is one of the best examples of these models. Let's take a closer look at the model that brings Tourbillon, which is arguably the most popular complication of all times, with enamel applied blue dial.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Enamel comes with a 40mm diameter and 12.13mm thick case. The thickness of the 18K white gold case may be a bit high for the Ultra-Thin category, but let's not forget that the model is home to a full-size rotor automatic movement with Tourbillon and date features. The case is equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides and is resistant to water pressure up to 50 meters. An elegant, JLC signed winding crown accompanies the fully mirror-polished case.
The model features an enamel applied sector dial finished in a stunningly beautiful blue tone. Accompanied by appliqué markers and Dauphine-style hands, the dial hosts a Guilloche motif in sunray form, while the inner surface of the date sub-dial at 12 o'clock comes with a concentric pattern.
The Tourbillon escapement located at 6 o’clock, offers a nice symmetry along with the date display. The components of the Tourbillon also benefited from the meticulous attention of JLC to the finest detail. All edges are hand-beveled and polished. Seeing the same artisanship even on the Tourbillon bridge, makes me smile and reinforces my respect for the brand at the same time. At 3 o'clock, there is the brand's applique logo. I think that the "AUTOMATIQUE" text at 9 o'clock is located there to serve the symmetry I mentioned before.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Enamel beats by the manufacture Caliber 978F. The movement, consisting of 35 jewels and a total of 302 components, operates at a frequency of 4Hz / 28,800vph and offers 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound. In addition to hours and minutes, the movement is equipped with a date sub-dial and a Tourbillon balance. The caliber offers a visual feast with its solid gold perforated rotor and elaborate decoration.
A hand-stitched navy blue alligator strap and an 18K white gold folding clasp with the JLC logo complements the model.
Particularly in the past few years, we saw Tourbillons with affordable than ever price tags. The first example that comes to my mind in this regard is the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02 Tourbillon model. I am sure that a classic complication like Tourbillon offered with a modern take and a relatively accessible price would be a deal-maker for many watch aficionados but not for me. If I am going to own a Tourbillon, I would prefer a classic-themed model from a brand whose name is identified with high complications. Just like this Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Enamel...
