Longines takes the vintage-inspired Avigation BigEye model, designed in the classic pilot-chronograph style, into a modern and sporty atmosphere with a titanium case and a gradient blue dial update.
The Avigation BigEye, which was added to the Longines product line in 2017, attracted great attention as soon as it came out with its classic pilot-chronograph style and a larger designed 3 o’clock sub-dial counter. The model, which is among the favorite classic pilot-chronograph timepieces of watch enthusiasts, like many other examples offered by the brand's mastery in the Heritage concept, is showing up once again with a new version that features details that highlight its sporty side.
The 41mm diameter and 14.5mm high case of the model is produced from ultra-light Grado 5 titanium alloy this time. The case, in which glossy and matte surfaces are used together, has a high-edged and anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal on the front side, and a solid screw-lock titanium case back on the rear side. The model, which should be avoided from water-containing activities with its 30 meters water pressure resistance, is accompanied by a Longines signed crown and piston-shaped chronograph pushers.
The dial, which features another distinctive characteristic of the new model after the case, comes in a petrol blue tone and grained surface form. Black chronograph sub-dials and cream-colored Super-LumiNOVA applied components accompany the dial.
Longines Avigation BigEye Titanium beats by the Caliber L688 movement. ETA A08.L01 based and 27-jewels automatic chronograph movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers 54 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
The timepiece, a standard model in the current product line, comes with a seamless tan-colored calfskin strap and titanium pin buckle. The list price for the model is CHF 3,200.
