The 1940s... The second world war is just over, almost the whole world has come out of a great depression phase, and the new world order has begun to be established. It's time for prosperity and fun. With the rise of elegance, delightful generations have already begun to catch up. Every field of art is performed freely, making people happier. Here is the new Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph “Tuxedo”, a watch designed precisely reflecting the values of this period. More precisely, it is a reproduction of one of the legendary Longines chronographs produced in the 40s.

To be honest, very few watches have been able to affect me this much at first sight. When I read the press release and saw the pictures of the watch for the first time, I called my teammates excitedly and said that they made the watch I have been looking for. They also said quietly to me, "Put it on your wrist first, then we'll talk about it...". Now, that moment came.

Nowadays, 40mm case diameter is considered as an average value for men's watches. However, this size was considered too large to fit 50-60 years ago. Due to changing trends and industry standards, I do not take the case size as a criterion. In all the remaining details, the new Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph “Tuxedo” feels extremely “nostalgic”. Each number on the dial, the eye-catching bi-compax chronograph layout, curved sapphire crystal, elegantly designed lugs, the strap that gets better as it gets older, and much more. The moment I put this watch on my wrist, I can imagine myself in a classic American car playing jazz on the radio. Of course, sitting next to me is a lovely lady with all her grace, like she jumped right out of the silver screen. We are never in a hurry. The V8 rumbles faintly, the windows are lowered and a sweet breeze from outside surrounds us.

If we leave the imaginary world aside and go back to reality, a 40mm stainless steel case welcomes us. The elegant design of the case may be slightly interrupted by the high bezel, the Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph “Tuxedo” is still successful in blending era-correct details with the concept of modern watchmaking. I don't feel the need to highlight the fact that the dial under the sapphire crystal is the main factor behind the success of the watch. Every detail, from the tachymetric scale to the blued hands and inscriptions, from the large Arabic numerals to the dual-tone color scale, increases the fascination coefficient of the wearer with solid steps. The model, which is water-resistant to 30 meters, does not have any locking mechanism on the crown or the chronograph pushers.

Longines preferred to use the automatic Caliber L895 in this model. The ETA A31.L01-based movement offers a 54-hour power reserve. The movement draws a profile that is compatible with the model with its purposeful production quality, durability, and functionality.

The Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph “Tuxedo” comes with a black leather strap and a standard type buckle made of stainless steel. The 19mm wide strap, which is a non-standard size, is compatible and comfortable with the case and dial. Honestly, imagining this watch with a dark brown nubuck strap is enough to make me smile.
