Longines, one of the prominent representatives of the Heritage trend, continues to expand its acclaimed collection with the reproduced version of the model designed for the French Navy.
Longines is one of the first names that comes to mind when it comes to Heritage Watches. The brand, which we can regard as the eponym of this successful trend, hosts one of the most comprehensive product groups regarding Heritage-themed watches.
With its wide range of models extending from the 1930s to the 1970s, the brand, which has won the admiration of not only vintage enthusiasts but also all watch lovers, expands its collection with a very stylish model.
The new model takes its inspiration from a model designed and produced by the brand for the French Navy in the post-World War II era. Longines Ref. 5774 sports features like a stainless steel case measuring 33mm in diameter, water resistance, which can be considered successful for its period, and the hand-wound 12.68N movement. The model, which attracts attention with its cream-colored dial with no date window, blued hands, and the text "Fab. Suisse" (Made in Switzerland), is brought to the present day with a new version.
Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale comes with a 38.5mm diameter case, which is a good size for a stylish and modern men's watch, although it may be a bit larger for a retro-inspired model. On the front of the case, there is a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. Designed faithfully to the original model, the case has a notched, solid stainless steel case back. The only negative aspect of the case, which reinforces the vintage theme with its large winding crown, is its water-resistance value limited to 30 meters.
The dial of the model is also designed following the original version. Painted Arabic numeral indexes and blued hands on a cream-colored background flashback to 70 years ago. The same use of the text "Fab. Suisse" also emphasizes the importance given to details.
