Modern Pocket Watches

It’s time for some nostalgia in the world of watches... Here we are with modern pocket watches, which have managed to stand out from the dusty pages of history and join the current collections.

Although today’s watchmaking focuses almost solely on wristwatches, it is important to remember the essence of wearable timepieces, i.e. the pocket watches. Some brands continue the tradition of pocket watches with models that are suitable for different tastes and budgets.

One of the leading brands in this product group is Tissot. More precisely, we can say that the best quality models that you can have without paying astronomical figures are available in the current pocket watch collection Tissot. The pocket watch collection, which includes quartz and mechanical movement models, can cater to all tastes by hosting both modern and classic designs. The Lepine, Savonnette and Pendants models have an unparalleled price/performance ratio.

Longines is another brand that comes to mind when it comes to modern pocket watches. The recently issued limited-edition Equestrian Pocket Watch Jockey 1878 keeps the classic Longines spirit alive with many retro-inspired details.

A list of modern pocket watches without Patek Philippe is unthinkable. PP is one of the very rare brands that kept producing pocket watches from their very first days. The collection, which includes models with white gold, yellow gold and pink gold cases that are equipped with exquisitely crafted movements, continues to set the standards for 21st-century pocket watchmaking.

Some experimental watchmakers produce the pocket watch version of their cult models. For example, Piaget Altiplano Pocket Watch. This 50mm diameter 18K white gold case and ultra-thin movement pocket watch is limited to 26 units only.

What about a stunning Panerai? It is not easy to choose between a 50mm diameter 18K white gold case with a 3-day power reserve manual-winding pocket watch and a 50mm diameter black ceramic case and a 6-day power reserve tourbillon movement one.

What do you think of a Montblanc 1858 Pocket Watch with a 60mm titanium case limited to 100 pieces? In our opinion, this pocket watch is just one of the great things that Montblanc has done recently, with its monopusher chronograph Minerva caliber and modern design.

Again, I cannot hide my admiration for the next example. Produced by Blancpain, Villeret Montre de Poche Demi-Savonnette is simply “flawless” with its 44.5mm 18K rose gold case and extraordinarily beautiful manufacture movement.

The Omega-signed Olympic Pocket Watch collection has a different position among modern pocket watches with its nostalgic touches and fascinating movements. The models, offered in 18K white, yellow and pink gold cases with rattrapante chronograph movements, are limited to 100 pieces per version.

At the end of the list is the RM 020 Tourbillon Pocket Watch produced by the exotic watchmaker Richard Mille. With a 62mm x 52mm titanium case, hand-wound tourbillon movement and signature RM design language; this pocket watch is one of the most extraordinary pocket watches ever.
