Montblanc introduced the 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date model family, which I designed inspired by the massif of the White Mountain, which gives its name to the brand.
The model family, which draws attention with its sporty theme as well as its dial options that reflect the three-dimensional depth of the glaciers, hosts a total of six different versions.
The mutual features of the new collection include an elegant case designed with a diameter of 41mm and a height of 12.9mm, a diver-style ceramic bezel, a double AR-coated sapphire crystal on the front, and a solid case back with 3D illustrations. Equipped with an easy-to-grip crown, the case is waterproof up to 300 meters.
The Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date Collection is available with three different dial colors, namely blue, green and black, representing the different tones of ice glaciers. Blue ice can be found in the Ice Sea of Mont-Blanc and is formed by incorporating air bubbles into the ice, while green ice is found in Antarctica and is the result of the presence of microscopic snow moss blooms. Black ice forms when the ice has no inclusions or air bubbles, so it absorbs enough light to appear black. It may also turn black with volcanic ash deposits in its structure; examples can be seen in the polar regions.
The new models, available with interchangeable metal bracelets as well as matching rubber straps, tick with the Sellita SW 300 based movement, Caliber MB 24.17. The automatic movement, hosting hour, minute, and second functions as well as a date display, offers a power reserve time of up to 38 hours when fully wound.
