Well, I am back with another Montblanc watch review. As I mentioned previously in my past articles, I am greatly fascinated with the latest achievements of Montblanc timepieces. In fact, the more they focus and invest on their watchmaking division, the more they come up with stunning models. Here we are with the beautiful Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Moonphase in stainless steel.

What I like about Montblanc’s Heritage Collection is the simple but elegant design clues. The collection offers timepieces sporting great combinations of traditional aesthetics with contemporary techniques and a healthy dose of brand decoration. The Heritage Collection watches may lack some color at the first glance due to their simple dials and “less is more” expressing features however, you would be charmed by their solid elegance upon a careful look.

There are a variety of choices in the Heritage Collection. They are all beautiful and well put together watches however; this Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Moonphase Stainless Steel seems to be my favorite among other members of the collection. Well, I have my reasons to say that for sure and I’ll tell you why I’d go for this watch;

Undoubtedly, the most appealing timepiece in the Heritage Collection is the Pulsograph Limited Edition but, the distinct design and features of this stunning watch is equally reflected to the price tag.

There are a couple of basic models in the collection which are the two hands automatic or the date automatic. Again, they are absolutely beautiful watches but in terms of being simple, I think they are a bit “too simple... “.

Then we have the Perpetual Calendar model. As I always say, Montblanc re-defines the “value for the money “expression with its latest products and the Perpetual Calendar model in the Heritage Collection is arguably the best sample in this direction. Considering the price range for the equivalent models from various manufacturers, it is a hack of a deal in terms of horology for the money. However, horological values and absolute price vs performance ratio are not always enough to “buy” a watch.

The Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Perpetual Calendar has a busy dial. In fact, its normal due to its perpetual calendar complication but aesthetically speaking I find it a bit distracting. Additionally, the sub dials look pretty much squeezed to a certain central area which makes the dial look more crowded than it really is (this is the same reason why I do not like the Omega Speedmaster MoonWatch).This is probably happened due to the structure of its Sellita based perpetual calendar movement but as I said before it looks way too crowded for me.

Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Moonphase Stainless Steel has a very balanced dial. As a great admirer of no-date dial watches, I like the dial a lot with its pointer date around the moon phase instead of a date displaying window. I think Montblanc did a great job with that dial in terms of simple and elegant aesthetics. On the other hand, I am not that happy with the lack of the second hand. A small second sub dial would have brought a busy look on the dial but a center second hand would be good for those who definitely want some animation on the dial or at least to have the ability to measure the accuracy without having to strap the watch to a vibrograph.

As I mentioned before, many Montblanc watches employ base Swiss ETA or Sellita movements, occasionally upgraded with modules on top of them to provide additional functionality depending on the model. That is the case with this Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Moonphase, which features a base Sellita movement with a Dubois Dépraz module for the moonphase and calendar functions. Montblanc refers to the movement as the Caliber Ref. MB 29.14. The automatic movement beats at 4Hz and is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.

On the wrist, the watch feels positively comfortable thanks to its well balanced case measures as 39mm diameter and 10,24mm thickness. Wrist presence is not the best feature of a dress watch and the same goes for the Heritage Moonphase as well. However, its 39mm stainless steel case is not a shy one attached to a beautifully crafted black alligator strap. Additionally, its pure elegance is enough to impress any watch aficionado with a strong taste for classic dress watches.

Montblanc has become a serious player in the league of luxury watch manufacturers and Meisterstück Heritage Moonphase Stainless Steel is a perfect sample to describe the present positioning of the brand.
