Officine Panerai SIHH 2016 novelties arrived to the boutiques

We had the privilege to photograph the SIHH 2016 novelties first at Horobox. Now the watches arrived to the beautiful Istanbul Boutique and we were there to re-shoot those timepieces in flesh once again.

Beside the PAM631 and the PAM660, we had another new comer Radiomir 1940 PAM655 at the boutique. Let’s have close look at those novelties through detailed photos by Emre Şişman.

PAM655 comes with a 42mm diameter Radiomir type case which looks pretty much comfort oriented when compared to the 47mm versions. The case is crafted in 316L Grade stainless steel and provides WR100M water resistance.

The case sports double sapphire crystals which makes it automatic movement Caliber P.4000 visible from the back side.

Though white is not the best dial color for me in Panerai, I have to say that it perfectly matches with the 42mm Radiomir case and retro colored SuperLuminova material. The only negative thing about the dial is the excessive use of Arabic numerals (instead of markers, dots etc.) which makes the dial lay out look quite busy.

PAM655 features the automatic movement Caliber P.4000. 3.95mm thick movement beats at 28800vph and offers 3 days power reserve when fully found. Caliber P.4000 sports patented Glucydur balance wheel and KIF Parechoc anti-shock device.

The watch comes on a brown assolutamente strap which is the best OEM Panerai strap ever in my opinion. Being the first white dial Radiomir 1940 ever, PAM655 retails at 9400, 00 EUR.

The other novelties are the Boutique Editions PAM631 and PAM660.

Both watches are offered in 44mm Luminor Marina cases manufactured to the latest standards. The differences and updates about the 44mm Luminor cases are explained in detail within our Executive Editor Serdar OAL’s article.

While the colors differ, both watches feature the same retro tone SuperLuminova material applied to the hands and indices. Another common detail is the blue OP Logo on the dials. I would like to say that OP Logo dials Panerai’s are always preferable to the models without logos.

PAM631 and PAM660 feature the tested and approved for durability movement, ETA Unitas 9497 based Caliber OP I. Due to the solid case back design; it is not possible to see the movement.

The watches are offered with standard Panerai straps. Though they provide the required comfort, they are not that successful in terms of aesthetics. I am sure the owners will not use the watch with the same strap forever.

Both models retail at 4900, 00 EUR.

Panerai bet on Panerai again at SIHH 2016 making little details for the fans and watch enthusiasts but surely got highly appreciated for the novelties as usual. I suggest you to be quick if you want to take a look at (and buy ..?) those watches as they will be sold in a flash as always.
