Panerai, famous for its timepieces that make you feel the maritime spirit to your marrow, brings a new breath to the Submersible family by offering the PAM00684 in 42mm.

Panerai’s current product line has for main collections as Luminor, Luminor Due, Radiomir and Submersible. Although it is possible to talk about some unique details for each collection, I think the common feature is their boldness in design. I think it would be safe to say that all Panerai models offer a bold and dominant presence on the wrist. I believe that one of the details that played the most effective role in this situation was the size of the watches until I saw the PAM00684...

Submersible models represent the most technically advanced and strongest side in the Panerai product range. The series, which we are accustomed to 45mm and 47mm models, now also includes a 42mm diameter case, which naturally brought the question marks in my head. Frankly, I thought that Submersible and of course other Panerais would not have the same boldness with smaller sizes. I was wrong. Submersible PAM684, with a diameter of 42mm, felt exactly as it should be on the wrist. Neither incomplete nor too much. Interestingly, I feel the same thing with 47mm models too. The only thing that has changed is that the 42mm model is barely fit under a cuff. Long story short, 42mm is also a perfect size for a Panerai.

Speaking of the boldness, one should not miss the tempting look and feel of the 18K red gold case material. The fact that the alloy used by Panerai is pinker than its equivalents has brought a distinctive appeal to the watch. On the other hand, with the matt black ceramic used in the bezel, both a functional and a stylish appearance is obtained. There is, of course, no need to say that the Super-LumiNOVA applied to the classic small seconds, hands and round indices on the dial, can be used as a flashlight in the dark. The case is equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides and is water-resistant to 300 meters.

Officine Panerai Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Oro Rosso 42mm is powered by the manufacture Caliber P.9000, which has been used in many Panerai models for years. 28 jewels self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 28.000vph and offers a power reserve of 72 hours as well as an easy-setting feature that allows the user to set the hour hand independently.

Although Panerai offers this model with a black, waffle style rubber strap, I think a handmade leather strap in brown tones will be a perfect match. As you know, Panerai means countless strap alternatives for your every watch. The MSRP for US$ 26,700. Not bad for a diving watch with a gold case and a cult design.
