Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is a watch dedicated to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as its name suggests. Since Omega acts as the official timekeeper of the Olympics, it is natural that it is launching a model dedicated to this organization. The interesting thing is that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics could not be realized. Within the scope of the efforts to control the Covid-19 virus that threatens the whole world, activities in which a large number of people will be together are postponed or canceled. Unfortunately, the Olympics are one of these events.
The model has a 39.5mm diameter case made of stainless steel. There are sapphire crystals on the front and back of the case. The Tokyo 2020 model, just like the other versions of the series, can offer a water resistance value of up to 600 meters. This waterproof value is supported by the helium escape valve at 10 o'clock position, which is now identified with the Planet Ocean family.
On the watch, there are some details specific to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The white color theme and red details that dominate the watch represent the Japanese flag. The red circle at the tip of the second hand also refers to this theme. The color of the 20 number on the bezel made of white ceramic is also finished in red especially for the year 2020. The 2020 Olympics logo is engraved on the sapphire display case back.
The automatic Caliber 8800 movement, developed and produced in-house, was used in Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo 2020. The 26mm diameter movement has 35 jewels, beats at 25200vph, and has a 55-hour power reserve. The movement, which is not affected by magnetic flux up to 15,000 Gauss, promises maximum precision in all conditions with its Master Chronometer certificate approved by METAS.
The model is offered with a white leather strap and a folding clasp. For the model with a 19mm strap width, it is possible to benefit from the numerous NATO strap options in Omega catalogs. The model, which comes with a 5-year warranty, is limited to a span of 2020 units only.
