Oris, among the leading manufacturers of entry and mid-level Swiss mechanics, offers the formula of being sporty and stylish at the same time with the women’s Oris Aquis Date model, which was introduced under the brand’s Baselworld 2019 novelties.
Being among the rising stars of Swiss Watchmaking Industry’s independent brands, Oris introduced a number of novelties under the recently ended Baselworld 2019 Watches and Jewelry trade show. The model we have here for review belongs to the brand’s top-seller dive watch product line Aquis Collection.
The model, which sports a feminine image with its elegant color palette, comes in a not so modest 36.50mm diameter case. The case offers a sporty look with its mostly satin brush finish. On the front face of the case is the inner side anti-glare coated scratch resistant domed sapphire crystal and the uni-directional diving bezel. The water resistance rating of the watch is a substantial 300 meters / 30 bars thanks to the screw-lock case back with sapphire crystal display and screw-lock winding crown.
The new model, which highlights its sporty side with the masculine case, gets in to a feminine character with Sun Ray finished brown dial. Displaying no extra feature rather than time and date, the dial features Super LumiNOVA BG W9 phosphor applied hour markers and hands in order to provide optimum legibility virtually at any environment.
Oris Aquis Date is powered by the self-winding Oris 733 movement. Based on the reliable Sellita SW 200-1, 26 jewels movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Equipped with the brand signature red oscillating rotor, the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal display case back.
Another feminine detail accompanying the dial and bezel insert of the new model is undoubtedly the strap made of satin. The strap, which combines the sporty character of the watch successfully with elegance, provides a beautiful look with its bright and textured surface. At the end of the strap is an Oris signed folding clasp made of stainless steel.
The model we opted for the review is available with sticker price of 1700.00 CHF. If you prefer sportiness to elegance, there is the stainless steel bracelet version of the same model (Ref. 01 733 7731 4156-07 8 18 05P) with a list price of CHF 1900.00.
