Oris, which has a rightful reputation as the protector of the oceans', continues to fulfill its responsibilities with its new gold model.
Coral Restoration Foundation, based in America, Florida, is one of the world's leading coral restoration organizations. The Foundation's reef renewal methods have been adopted by many organizations, including the Reef Restoration Foundation, which Oris collaborated with the Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III model last year.
The new limited model, which Oris introduced in cooperation with the Coral Restoration Foundation, takes its name from the Carysfort Reef in the Florida Keys National Marine Reserve, near Key Largo. Carysfort, which is part of the Florida Reef Road, is the third-largest one in the world and the only barrier reef in America.
The Foundation has been working to restore the Carysfort Reef since 2014 and has already taken major measures to secure its future. The Coral Restoration Foundation has turned nearly 25,000 corals into a reef so far and plans to make this figure a minimum of 30,000 by the end of the year.
So, why are the articles and donations are so important?
Coral reefs are the oldest and most diverse biological ecosystem in the world. Although it covers only 1 percent of the Earth's surface, it supports at least 25 percent of all marine species. The health of the oceans is indispensable to life. 70% of the world's oxygen comes from the oceans. Martha Roesler, the R&D director of the Coral Restoration Foundation, emphasized the importance of these reefs as follows; “Coral reefs are a critical part of a healthy ocean and provide essential ecosystem services. They’re important for human subsistence, supporting fisheries that provide protein for billions of people. They also form natural barriers that protect shorelines and infrastructure from wave energy and storm surges. The global value of coral reefs is close to 10 million USD.
