Panerai introduced the newest member of its "Lo Scienziato" model family, a high-end collection dedicated to the famous Italian scientist Galileo Galilei, PAM00768. Just like in the previous editions, the new model is again equipped with details that reveal the technological level that the brand has reached in terms of luxury watchmaking.
“Lo Scienziato” (the Scientist in Italian) was added to the brand’s product line in 2010 with a 48mm Radiomir style case. As of 2016, it came in a high-tech 3D-printed Luminor style case, using titanium powder processed by Direct Metal Laser Sintering technology. The model family is re-introduced to the like of watch enthusiasts once again with its latest model PAM00768.
The new model comes in a Luminor style case with a diameter of 47mm and a height of 17.66mm. As in the previous version, the case, which is produced using titanium powders with DMLS technology, has now benefited from the Panerai’s patented next-generation material, Carbotech, in its bezel, winding crown and crown guard components. The ultra-light case, which weighs only 18 grams, is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 10ATM / 100m.
The model’s skeleton-style dial features dark green accents. The dial, which provides an industrial image with the darkened movement components visible, features hours, minutes, smalls seconds, GMT, 24h indication, power reserve indication and a 30-second tourbillon.
The model is powered by the fully manufactured Caliber P.2005 / T. 31 jewels/277 parts manual winding movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers a power reserve of 6 days when fully wound.
Panerai Luminor Tourbillon GMT “Lo Scienziato” PAM00768 comes with a grey alligator leather strap with titanium folding clasp. There is also an additional Velcro strap and titanium buckle as well. The list price for the model is EUR 145,000.
