Rado added a new version to its retro-inspired model family, Captain Cook. Designed following the Heritage theme of the collection, the model also hosts the world time complication.
The new version, which is a reproduction of the model with the same name produced in the 1960s per today's standards, is limited to only 1962 pieces, referring to the release date of the original model.
The new model comes with a 37mm diameter and 10.3mm high case, sized according to the original. The case, whose distance between two lugs is 43.1mm, is waterproof up to 100 meters. The front of the stainless-steel case has a box-type sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. On the black high-tech ceramic insert part of the coin edge style bezel, there are engraved city names filled with silver-colored lacquer.
The stylish model hosts a gradient color background, which we have seen frequently, especially in retro-themed models. The dial, with rhodium-plated applique indices and hands, offers sufficient legibility in almost any environment with the help of the Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material used. While the Over Pole lettering at 6 o'clock refers to the roots of the model, the moving brand logo, a Rado classic, takes its place at 12 o'clock.
Caliber R862 movement based on ETA 2804 gives life to the new model. The movement, which reveals Rado's attention and care in making a Re-Issue suitable for the model's retro character, is appreciated for its hand-wound architecture. The caliber, which impresses with its power reserve of up to 80 hours when fully wound, also incorporates technological updates such as the Nivachron non-magnetic hairspring.
Limited to only 1962 pieces, the model is available with a brown nubuck leather strap and a "beads of rice" style stainless steel bracelet. The list price for the model is CHF 2,400.
