Roger Dubuis, who was highly acclaimed with its Aventador S model designed in collaboration with the famous super sports car manufacturer Lamborghini, is the guest of our Hands ON corner with the limited edition Roger Dubuis Aventador S Pink Gold model introduced at the SIHH 2018 exhibition.
The Aventador S model, which was introduced to the watch enthusiast with its yellow and orange themed models last year, got a more luxurious presence with its new 18K pink gold accented version that we had the opportunity to review in detail at SIHH 2018.
The model is offered in a multi-layer carbon case measuring 45mm in diameter and 14mm in height as with the earlier models. The case is equipped with an 18K pink gold bezel and a black rubber capped 18K pink gold winding crown. Despite its size, the watch wears quite comfortably on the wrist thanks to its lightweight carbon based material. There are anti-glare treated scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides of the case that is water resistant to 50 meters.
The new model’s dial design uses the same platform as the previous versions. Roger Dubuis, arguably the most experienced brand in designing skeleton dials, added several details on the model’s dial that evoke the super sports car. The hands are made of pink gold and black PVD coated to the tips in order to match with the black concept. There are 18K pink gold accents visible through the skeleton dial which are inspired by Lamborghini Aventador S engine. There is an inner chapter around the dial with minute and hour markers applied as well as the brand logo and the Poincon de Genève mark.
The model ticks with the Caliber RD103SQ movement that is also used in some other models of the brand. The hand-wound movement beats at 28800vph X 2 (thanks to its double sprung balances) and offers 40 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Shot-blasted and circular grained plate and bridges are used in the movement which is entirely designed and built by Roger Dubuis from sketch to finished product. In addition to hours and minutes, the movement offers Jumping Second and Power Reserve Indicator features. The sapphire crystal at the caseback features a stylish Aventador S logo adorned with the colors of the Italian flag.
Roger Dubuis Aventador S Pink Gold comes on an Alcantra top strap with rubber base which is secured by a black Roger Dubuis signed folding clasp. The model is limited to a span of 28 units only.
Watches and automobiles have a lot in common in both industrial and user preference terms. The watchmaking industry continues to offer new models designed in reference to that common ground and Roger Dubuis is surely one of the best brands that makes the most refined examples regarding those models.
