Seiko 5 Sports GMT – SSK001K1, SSK003K1 & SSK005K1

Seiko 5 Sports GMT – SSK001K1, SSK003K1 & SSK005K1

Seiko is expanding its unrivaled product line in the price/performance category, the Seiko 5 Sports model family, with new versions featuring the GMT function.

When it comes to models with a high price/performance ratio, one of the first names that come to mind is the Seiko 5 Sports collection. The collection, which stands out as the sporty-themed model family of the Seiko 5 product group, which was introduced in 1968 and has become a legend in the world of watchmaking, is expanding with new references today.

The new models are equipped with the second time zone (GMT) feature, which is perhaps one of the most usable complications of traditional watchmaking. The versions based on the current Seiko 5 Sports platform, added to the Seiko catalogs in 2019, also draw attention with their revised components per modern times.

All three models come in stainless steel cases designed with a diameter of 42.5mm and a height of 13.6mm. The case, which is highly appreciated by watch lovers with its design that we remember from the SKX series, another legendary product group of the brand, is waterproof up to 100 meters. The front of the sporty case features scratch-resistant Hardlex crystal with a magnifier on it and a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 24-hour insert. The GMT feature of the model can be easily followed through the insert, which resembles ceramic material with its glossy structure. The case, which has a stainless steel case back with a mineral crystal display on the rear side, hosts a screw-down crown placed at 4 o'clock, another Seiko classic.

The dial designs of the new models also bear the thematic features of the Seiko 5 Sports collection. Lumibrite phosphorus-filled hands and indices accompany the dials, which come in glossy black, matte blue, and vibrant orange ground colors. With the help of the GMT hand, a second time zone is followed from the dial, which also includes a date window at 6 o'clock.

The movement that brings models to life, Caliber 4R34, is based on the brand's new generation entry-level movement family 4R platform. The automatic movement, which can be wound via the crown as well as the rotor, operates at a frequency of 3Hz (21,600vph) and offers a power reserve of up to 41 hours when fully wound.

The Seiko 5 Sports GMT model family comes with a Jubilee style bracelet that will make Seiko lovers smile with its solid end-link pieces instead of folded. The bracelet, which displays a presence worthy of the price scale that the models are in, both visually and functionally, is fixed to the wrist with a Seiko signed folding clasp.

The reference information for the models with a global list price of 470 EUR is as follows:
