Far eastern manufacturer Seiko introduced the Prospex Solar Diver ‘Street Series’ Collection based on the legendary Tuna model that was first added to the brand’s product line back in 1975.
We are sure that the name “Tuna” does mean the same thing not for only loyal Seiko fans but all watch aficionados. Tuna model family, which had its own place among many other successful dive watches from Seiko, hosted many different iterations since the day it has been introduced.
The first model, Ref. 6159-7010, appeared in the Seiko catalogs back in 1975 and made a great success among professional divers with its technical features like being water resistant up to 600 meters, featuring a lightweight titanium alloy case protected by a special guard made of ceramic and a patented L shape gasket which eliminated the need for a Helium Release Valve.
The newest models that share the Tuna platform is offered with 47mm X 12mm measuring cases that are water resistant to 200 meters making them a part of the Baby Tuna sub-group. There are three different versions in the collection that are separated by their color themes as navy blue (Ref. SNE533), green (Ref. SNE535) and gray (Ref. SNE537).
All models tick with the solar powered Caliber V157 movement which offers a runtime of 10 months when fully charged. The outer protection guard piece is now made of plastic instead of ceramic that was found on the original version.
The un-finished concrete like pattern is present on both the dial and the rubber straps that are designed in matching colors. Straps are secured by Seiko signed pin buckles.
The new models will be available in Turkey with a list price of 4327,00 TL by the end of November.
