Swatch, the giant name of the Swiss watch industry, introduced the Swatch Flymagic concept, which included many innovations in both technological and aesthetic terms. The new collection, announced at the new building of the brand in Bienne, consists of three different models, each limited to 500 units.
The new concept, introduced via an exclusive event held on February 14, presents details that successfully represents the brand’s philosophy, which aims to maintain its modern and innovative structure without compromising accessibility.
The new collection comes in a boldly designed case measuring 45mm in diameter and 14.8mm in height. Offered in three variants as a pair of stainless steel ones and one pink gold PVD plated, the case is equipped with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front side and is water resistant to 30 meters / 3 bars. Besides the characteristic Swatch style lugs, the case attracts attention with its relatively high turbine style bezel.
The model’s dial is also eye-catching like the rest of the concept, which offers both technical and aesthetic innovations in almost every component. The skeleton-style dial reveals the gear train of the movement, which is inverted as per the concept. Since the transparent oscillating rotor is placed on the front face, the skeletonized dial is fully enjoyed. There is an additional module in the center of the dial that is used to move the hour and minute hand clock-wise as the movement is inverted. The seconds hand on the other hand remains un-touched and rotates counter clockwise. Numbering of watch on ring in the center of the movement.
The new collection is powered by the manufacture Caliber Flymagic. 19 jewels/66 parts self-winding movement is actually a modified and inverted Sistem51 movement. Equipped with the new paramagnetic Nivachron hairspring, the movement beats at a frequency of 3Hz and offers a power reserve of 90 hours when fully wound. Oscillating weight is transparent making the whole movement visible through the front face.
The models in Flymagic Collection come with a rubber strap and an additional two calf straps in various colors. Delivered in an exclusive presentation box, the models will be available as of 30 April 2019 with a MSRP of CHF 1500,00.
